I've always been amazed by people who knew what they wanted out of life. They always seemed focused and knew what direction they were headed in.

Looking back, I never consciously considered a sales career. I can now see that subconsciously, I discovered that sales was where I was headed. Spring Break of my freshman year of college, I engaged Bruce McLaren of McLaren Racing in coversation while attending time trials at the Indianapolis 500. I asked him for a job.

I must have sold him on myself because he hired me. Being part of a Formula One racing team at age 19 was a lot fun. This all happened because I was motivated to ask.
