"Your fame will always precede you" is an expression someone shared with me early in my business career.

I once spoke to my father about ethics and business and asked him how he decided what was ethical or not. He told me he used a simple rule of thumb; If he could go home and explain the situation to his wife and children and feel good about himself, it was probably the right thing to do.

In today's day and age, greed is not good and our society has paid dearly for a lack of ethics, not only in business but in every walk of life.

The next time you are faced with an ethical dilemma, think of how your loved ones may react to how you handle the issue.
